Wyoming Medicare Supplement Plans

Once you’re age 65 or older, you can choose to enroll in Medicare Advantage plans instead of Original Medicare. Medicare Advantage plans offer the same coverage as original Medicare Parts A and B, but they may include some additional benefits, like coverage for prescription drugs, vision, heating, and dental exams.

What Are the Best Medicare Advantage Plans in Wyoming?

Medicare Advantage plans in WY are available throughout the entire state. These plans are sold by private insurers, so their coverage varies depending on the insurance provider as well as your location in the state. These plans often let you see medical providers within a certain network, so the plans available to you will depend on your zip code.

Since plans vary so much, there’s no one plan that’s best. Instead, it’s important to consider your healthcare needs and the types of plans available in your location.

What Types of Wyoming Medicare Advantage Plans Are Available?

Through the Wyoming Medicare Advantage program, you can choose from four types of plans. Each offers some different pros and cons, and it’s important to understand how the different plan types work so you can choose the best option for your needs:
  • Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plans require you to have a primary care physician, usually include drug coverage, and require you to receive all of your healthcare from in-network providers.
  • Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plans don’t require you to choose a primary care, usually include drug coverage, and give you the option of choosing providers from outside of your network, but at a higher cost. While PPOs give you more options, they have higher premiums.
  • Private Fee-for-Service (PFFS) plans don’t require you to have a primary care or to get referrals for specialists. While you can go to any approved provider who accepts the plan or agrees to treat you, you’ll pay higher costs if the provider doesn’t accept the plan’s terms.
  • Special Needs Plans (SNPs) are available only for people with certain conditions, include drug coverage, and require a primary care and referrals for specialists
